Problem: Presented
very young with a crossbite where all the top teeth bit
outside the bottom teeth, with the bottom jaw far back
Solution: Started
out with a plate to constrict the top jaw and allow the
teeth to bite; then a functional appliance to bring the
bottom jaw more forward and finally braces to achieve
ideal alignment and bite relationship
Notes:
The problem was extremely difficult
to begin with and with the use of growth modification
and guidance the final phase, the braces phase, was made
quite simple and there is marked improvement of the profile
and bite

Problem:
Class II dental relationship with marked crowding and
the back teeth forward in the upper with a deep bite
Solution:
Headgear to begin with to create space and stop the back
teeth coming forward, followed by full fixed braces to
detail the occlusion
Notes:
The headgear allowed the permanent
teeth to come through just before the loss of the baby
teeth in the upper and alleviate the crowding. The final
detailing was simplified because the bite was easier and
eliminated extractions
